The Associated Students of Fort Lewis College met on Wednesday. Several new members joined senate, while returning members were reappointed to the table. Senate discussed multiple issues involving The ASFLC’s approach to Colorado House Bill 12-1124, and its effect on higher education throughout the state.

The annual State of the Union address marks when the president publicizes his agenda to congress and their constituents for the upcoming year.  In this year’s State of the Union, from tax reform, national security, and education, Obama sought to please all.

In his address, the president gave the public and elected officials insight as to what to expect from future democratic candidates.

Recent events have me asking myself: What does freedom of speech mean to me? Should there be an established line of what freedom of speech can and can’t encompass?
 

Higher education is an increasingly competitive environment. Fort Lewis College must take part in a strategic repositioning to remain competitive in the future.

Leslie Irvine is an Associate Professor of Sociology at The University of Colorado, Boulder. She specializes in the areas of self and human-animal interaction and has published several works about those topics including books such as, “My Dog Always Eats First: Homeless People and Their Animals” and “The Self in Society.”
