Fort Lewis College volleyball lost in straight sets to the New Mexico Highlands University Cowgirls Friday night, 25-22, 25-19, 25-22.

Despite close back and forth plays throughout, the Skyhawks lost the first set 25-22.

Sophomore middle blocker Bailey Longacre led the Skyhawks in kills with four, while junior setter Kendra Swackenberg led the team with 10 assists. On defense, freshman defensive specialist Addison Hays led the Skyhawks with five digs.

The second set brought more disappointment for the Skyhawks with a final score of 25-19.

The Skyhawks played aggressive defense in the second set with four individual players having more than five digs each.

Despite the stout defense played by FLC, the Cowgirls had 15 kills and won the set convincingly. The Skyhawks kept shooting themselves in the foot on offense, totaling eight errors in the second set alone.

FLC fell behind early in the third 5-1 and could not pick up any momentum throughout, ultimately losing the set 25-22. FLC seemed to outplay NMHU on offense, but it was not enough to overcome them in the end.

This was the final match for senior middle blocker Hannah Hargrove and senior outside hitter Emily Dellenbach.

This was the final match of the season for Skyhawks volleyball, which ended with a record of 9-17 overall and 4-14 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, placing 12th overall in the RMAC.
