FLC was looking to get back in the win column after a loss in their last game against Lindenwood University. They beat Oklahoma Baptist University today at home 16-4.

Oklahoma Baptist came into the game 2-5, 0-3 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, and were looking for there first win in conference.

FLC came into this game 1-3, 1-1 in the RMAC, and started this game being shot out of a cannon, metaphorically speaking.  They scored the first three goals of the game before the Bison were able to get on the scoreboard.

Fort Lewis’ Delaney Benson had two out of FLC’s seven first half goals. The Skyhawks outshot the Bisons 20-9 in the first along with winning the draw controls 5-4.

The Skyhawks had a 7-2 lead going into halftime.

Coming out of half, FLC was aggressive and dominant. FLC added 22 shots on goal compared to just 11 from the Bisons. Sammy Delli and Taylor Cabrera both completed hat tricks with 3 goals each in the game.

The Skyhawks ended up winning the game 16-4 behind an aggressive offense and ambitious goalkeeping.

The key difference from Thursday’s game to today’s was the Skyhawks goalkeeping. In Thursday’s game, freshman Daris Wienk was the starting goalie and allowed 14 goals in the first half before being pulled at halftime in favor of redshirt-Senior Alyssa Spencer, who started today’s contest.

Spencer only allowed six goals in the second half of Thursday’s game and only allowed four in the entire game against Oklahoma Baptist. This was an extreme improvement from their games early on in the season and will be much needed in their next contest on Sunday March 26th at noon against 19th ranked Regis who is 6-0, 3-0 in the RMAC.
