In response to the popular Harlem Shake trend that is sweeping the nation, Fort Lewis College students filmed their own Harlem Shake video earlier today, Feb. 19.

Organized on Facebook by Dylan Weldin, a FLC senior and Resident Assistant in Snyder B, the event attendance reached approximately 175 in participants and spectators, Weldin said.

“Given the short notice, it was a great success,” Weldin said.

Organizing the FLC Harlem Shake took about three days of promotion, he said.

The final take was completed at around 12:30 p.m. today in the quad outside the Student Union, filmed by Greg Cairns, a FLC senior.

Students showing their support for the event, some dressed only in overalls, bikinis, short shorts, speedos, or underpants, boogied down to “Harlem Shake” by Baauer.

Meanwhile, spectators watched, recorded it, and even threw snowballs into the crowd.

Within 30 minutes, the crowd of students had dispersed.
