8 Things To Do if You’re Single and Ready to Mingle on Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is a special holiday that gives people a chance to show appreciation for their loved ones. For those who don’t have a significant other or anyone who is looking for some fun, here are seven activities you can do to make your Valentine’s Day one to remember.

1. Singing Valentines

Location: Student Union

Sign Ups: Monday-Wednesday 12:20 - 2:00 p.m. and 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Send a Valentine’s Day themed song to a special someone, family member or friend, sung by the Men’s and Women’s choir and Hawkapella at Fort Lewis. It costs $12 for students and $15 for non-students. They’ll even do a video recording or Facetime upon request!

2. Día De La Amistad Celebration

Location: El Centro de Muchos Colores

When: Thursday 11:30- 12:30 pm

Come to El Centro to celebrate a day of friendship with a luncheon with Fort Lewis alum Kate Suazo.

3.  AISES Indian Taco Sale

Location: Native American Center

When: Thursday 12:00 - 1:30 p.m.

Come to the Native American Center for a taco sale put on by the American Indian Science and Engineering Society and enjoy an Indian Taco for $5.

4. Tea at the G

Location: The Gender and Sexuality Resource Center, 145 Reed Library

When: Thursday 1:00 p.m.

Enjoy a conversation about this week’s topic, The Art of Drag, over tea with Ryan Stone and Drewsilla at the G!

5. The Indy Release Party

Location: Media Center in the Student Union

When: Thursday 1:00 -2:00 p.m.

Join the Indy staff as they celebrate the release of their first print issue of the semester. Make your own Valentine’s Day cookies and paper Valentine’s for a friends, family member or someone special.

6.  Speed Mingling @ the Climbing Wall- A Bouldering Comp

Location: Climbing Wall at the Student Life Center

When: Thursday 7:00 - 10:00 p.m.

Join Outdoor Pursuits at the climbing wall for fun evening of socializing and climbing. This low-key climbing competition is open to all levels and abilities for free!

7. Love is a Drag Show

Location: Student Union Ballroom

When: Thursday 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Enjoy the third annual Valentine’s Day Drag Show put on by the Native American Center, Gender & Sexuality Resource Center and co-hosted by PRISM for laughs, singing, dancing and an all-around good time.

8. Sweet Things Dance

Location: Vallecito Room

When: Friday 6:30- 10 p.m.

Join the Fort Lewis College Social Dance Club in the Vallecito Room in the Student Union for a fun Valentine’s Day- themed dance for free!
