The world after graduation can be a scary prospect, especially with only a six-month grace period before student loan payments begin. Because of this it can be very important for graduates to land stable jobs right out of college.

The Associated Students of Fort Lewis College met on Wednesday. Several new members joined senate, while returning members were reappointed to the table. Senate discussed multiple issues involving The ASFLC’s approach to Colorado House Bill 12-1124, and its effect on higher education throughout the state.

Higher education is an increasingly competitive environment. Fort Lewis College must take part in a strategic repositioning to remain competitive in the future.

Leslie Irvine is an Associate Professor of Sociology at The University of Colorado, Boulder. She specializes in the areas of self and human-animal interaction and has published several works about those topics including books such as, “My Dog Always Eats First: Homeless People and Their Animals” and “The Self in Society.”

The Institutional Fee Review Board, a group at Fort Lewis College that reviews student fees for the college, meets once a year to review proposed student fees.
